A Christmas Cocktail

Are you looking for another holiday cocktail idea? Last week I posted the clever carrot’s festive white cosmo. For another equally festive idea, try a ginger rose cocktail for Christmas or New Year’s. I’m obsessed with all things ginger so I searched high and low for ginger cocktail ideas. I made this cocktail for our annual girls’ holiday party and the signature cocktail was a hit! For the recipe click on eatboutique.com

Turns out I I always have rose water on hand. I initially bought it for Egyptian baklava but also use it in oatmeal. You can find it at any international food store.

As for the ginger simple syrup, I made it myself. It’s really easy. Just bring 1 part water and 1 part sugar to a boil. Once it starts to boil remove from the heat so the syrup doesn’t thicken. Add peeled chopped ginger and let the mixture sit for about 20 minutes or longer for a more prominent ginger flavor. If looking for a sweeter drink, you can dissolve 2 parts sugar to 1 part water as well. For a group of 10 ladies I ended up using 2 cups water and 2 cups sugar. You can always make extra simple syrup and bottle what’s left. Simply add rose water, syrup and champagne or sparkling wine. Image also courtesy of eatboutique.com.
